What We Think:

Isle of Paradise offers an attractively priced self-tanning butter that transforms your skin with a lightweight, golden glow.

The thick formula glides effortlessly over skin, requiring very little product to achieve an even coverage. Within minutes, the pleasantly scented butter has absorbed, leaving skin soft and primed for a sun-kissed look.

After the recommended 4-8 hour development time, I was pleasantly surprised by the natural-looking bronze hue. While not the darkest tan, the subtle build of color enhanced my features with a healthy summer radiance.

With regular exfoliation and moisturizing, the durable color lasted for several days before needing reapplication. While a few stubborn streaks appeared, they were hardly noticeable and easily avoided in future uses.

Though the subtle iridescence from the glitter flecks did not create the fully invisible “airbrushed” effect promised, it imparted a pleasing luminous sheen that complemented the golden tan.

At just $28 for nearly 7 ounces, Isle of Paradise’s Self-Tanning Butter delivers serious value for a product that effortlessly transforms your appearance. With some practice and patience, you can achieve beautiful, long-lasting results that enhance your natural features and complexion. I recommend giving this affordable beauty product a try – you may be pleasantly surprised! I give Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Butter a score of 80 out of 100 for the radiant transformation and great value it offers.

Isle of Paradise® Self Tanning Butter FAQ:

Q: What kind of moisturizer is this?

A: This formula provides supreme hydration like a traditional body moisturizer but also features added benefits. It contains a blend of natural gradual tanners and illuminators that build radiance as you continue using the cream.

Q: Is it just a tinted moisturizer?

A: While tinted moisturizers provide an instant glow, this cream does more. The micro-pigments and gradual tanning actives develop over time to reveal your skin’s innate golden luminosity from within.

Q: How fast does it work?

A: You will notice an instant burst of radiance after applying the cream. However, the full effect of the gradual tanners and illuminators unfold after consistent use. Within 3-7 days of regular application, your skin may display a subtly bronzed, healthy glow.

Q: Does it actually “tan” my skin?

A: Technically this cream imparts a faux glow rather than a true tan. The actives and pigments work to imitate a suntan by darkening the top layers of skin. There is no actual melanin production stimulating a natural tan.

Q: Is it greasy?

A: No, the formula is enriched with emollients that feel lightweight and non-greasy upon application. The fast-absorbing cream leaves no oily residue and feels comfortable on the skin.

Isle of Paradise® Self Tanning Butter Ingredients:

This ingredients list presents a combination of various plant extracts, emollient oils, vitamins, minerals, and silicone derivatives engineered to nourish and hydrate the skin while simultaneously inducing a cosmetic tan through the self-tanning agent dihydroxyacetone and other compounds.

Key hydrating and antioxidant ingredients like aloe barbadensis extract, glycerin, and ascorbic acid work in tandem with moisturizing oils such as caprylic/capric triglyceride and cocos nucifera oil to condition and counteract the drying effects of the tan-building process, supporting the skin barrier as the superficial layers take on color.

Several ingredients act as fillers, stabilizers and emulsifiers to provide an even spread of the formula across the skin surface, including titanium dioxide, magnesium aluminum silicate, PEG compounds and cyclomethicones, while UV absorbers such as benzophenone-4 likely help preserve the longevity of the synthesized tan.

The inclusion of citrus grandis peel oil, mentha piperita oil and perfumed fragrance components contribute to a lightly scented self-tanning aesthetic, complementing the natural-looking bronzed complexion imparted by the formula’s strategic mix of targeted active and functional ingredients tailored for hydrated, customized sunless tanning results.

Some people may be allergic to specific ingredients, such as fragrances or certain types of oils. It is recommended to always do a patch test before using any new product, especially if you have sensitive skin or have had allergic reactions in the past.
